Shanghai World Expo Museum

For Shanghai World Expo Museum, Relicase's Museum showcases were beyond the requirement and expectation of the museum. In collaborating closely with the expert team from Shanghai Museum on the modification, and improvement of the final design proposals, we developed a set of air quality and humidity control methods to meet the requirements for the display environment of international museums.

Shanghai World Expo Museum and Urban Footprint Museum bring together a collection of hundreds of precious cultural relics from all over the world. To protect this collection during the World Expo, we cooperated with the key research base of SACH Cultural Relics Bureau to carry out strict testing on all the materials used in our exhibit cases and provided samples for testing the air-tightness of the cases while engaging in the solution design.

Prior to this, invaluable experience was gained through our involvement in providing services for large-scale events such as the 2008 Olympics. In the World Expo project, our project management capabilities were fully tested and well received.

Johnson & Johnson Pavilion - Beijing 2008 Olympics

Five pieces of The Terracotta Warriors from Emperor Qin Shihuang (Qin Dynasty ~ 221 to 206 BC) were exhibited during the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 at the Johnson & Johnson Olympic Exhibition Center in Olympic Park. These actual size genuine artifacts include a standing as well as a kneeling warrior figurine, two officers and a fully restored figurine which was originally in fragmented pieces.

Relicase designed and utilized all-glass frameless showcases, to match the overall style of the pavilion. Due to the large size of the museum display cases and in consideration of the need for repeated use of these showcases, the showcases were made as detachable units. These showcases were also designed to bear the combined weight of the heavy artifacts as well as the workers and curators putting up this exhibition. After the Beijing Olympic Games, the showcases were donated to the Museum of The Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Emperor Qin Shihuang. We also provided the services of detaching the showcases in Beijing and transporting them to Xi'an.
